My name is Holly Wayne, I’m new here. And you?

Emelia. Emelia Whitworth. Not new.

Who’s your godly parent?

So apparently I’m grounded for the rest of my life.

… Bullshit.

Hugo looked back at the messy sheets on the beds he had jumped on and shrugged a little. “I was actually just jumping from bed to bed… It was really fun!!! I don’t think I broke anything.” He said as he reminded himself to check for any broken furniture later. He laughed a little, moving his arm around to make sure it was alright.

With a small glance around the room he nodded. “I’ll go get my armor… Uh, wait for me outside.” He whispered as he heard footsteps nearby. He waited for Emelia to step away from the window before finally shutting it closed, and walking around the room. Hugo always seemed to lose everything once he left it in his cabin. Every single time he stepped foot in his cabin, it was as if he forgot there was anything outside of it. The Ares cabin became an entire world full of things to explore. He peeked into the closet where most of their siblings kept their belongings once he was sure the coast was clear, and continued looking for his armor.

Shaking his head, he gave up. “I’ll just use this one.” He murmured to himslef, as he grabbed an armor that was rather larger than his, which was also quite heavy. He stumbled towards the door, carrying the heavy armor in his small hands. He met Emelia outside the cabin. “I’m ready to go.”

With the window shut, Emelia walked to the Cabin’s door, bothering not to call any unwanted attention, now holding the backpack in front of her body with both hands. She paced around for the moments Hugo took to come out, kicking stones and looking around frenetically in fear someone would see her there and forsee what they were going to do.

When he came out, Em rushed up the few stairs and tackled him to the Cabin’s side, before anyone saw what he had in his hands. Meeting him in Ares’ wasn’t suspicious, but they would know if they eyed the armor he was holding. She shoved it inside the backpack with difficulty, wondering why was his chestplate bigger than hers, considering how they were almost the same size.

“Okay, done”, she smiled, closing the ziper of the bag and pulling it back to her shoulder. “Let’s go!”, she pulled him by the hand, making the way behind the Cabins. Not being seen outside would be helpful, because then they could think she was still inside Zeus’. Emelia started running from the center of the Camp, checking if Hugo was still after her, laughing out loud at the regained feeling of freedom.

Hugo let out a suppressed laugh, not wanting his siblings to hear him in a good mood while they argued and mopped around complaining about the Apollo kids. Hugo wasn’t in his best mood, he was sad that we wouldn’t get the chance to fight in the war, but he still thought that something interesting to do would turn up sooner or later. He looked around quickly, before continuing his latest game.

He took a deep breath before climbing on to one of his sibling’s beds. As he stood on top of it, he looked at the row of beds, making sure that none of them were too far away. He leaped forward, jumping up and feeling his feet in the air for a few brief seconds before he felt them feeling them hit another mattress. He waved his arms franctically to regain balance. After a sigh of relief, he leaped forward once again towards his own bed. This time however, he found himself distracted my a muffled sound coming from the window right next to his bed. He felt as if time had stopped as he landed on the floor. “Ow! Crap.” He whispered and then got up quickly to check what was going on outside his window.

At the sight of his best friend Emelia, he smiled, forgetting all about the pain on his arm. He opened the window, “Irene!” He said and then got on his knees in order to rummage underneath his bed. As he grabbed onto the handle of his sword, he got up, looking at Emelia. He was sure that she was thinking the same thing that he was.  ”We’re going to the war, yes?” He raised his eyebrows, trying very hard not to jump up and down from all the excitement he was feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Em laughed at his enthusiasm. “What was all that noise? Did you break some stuff in there?”, she stretched her head to see the inside of the Cabin behind it, and was surprised with the amount of red, brown and deadly things they kept in there. Maybe Cabin 5 wasn’t so bad, after all, she decided in a grin.

The mention of the war got Emelia even more excited. At least she wouldn’t have to explain him the plan. Well, not the whole plan. She knew he was bored too. How could he not be? Everyone was dying without them! They’d miss all the fun! But Emelia was smart. She knew how to get there. She’d go all the way to Manhattan and kill many monsters and show Thalia and father that she was a strong heroine, like Wonder Woman. “YES!!!”, she answered bouncing as she supported her weight on the sill. “Get your armor, Holmes! And quickly! Before they see us”, the kid looked around suspiciously. If they were caught, they’d be dead. Harpies were all around the Camp twenty-four hours a day now, and with Dionysus gone, they would have no one to report to but to their own stomachs. And they loved demigod meat.

Disobeying [emelia&hugo]

The Camp was so empty. Everyone was out to war. Em had been sitting around in her Cabin all day. All night too, lying on Loren’s old bed, playing catch with Zaphod and a paper ball. The brother had left not much while ago, she still missed him. Thalia said he had some family stuff to sort out, but she couldn’t help but feel as if he’d abandoned her and Thalia. Like dad did to mamma. And now Thalia was gone too. Maybe never to come back. And Em would be all alone in that scary Cabin. With the sibblings around, Cabin 1 was fun and cozy. On her own, the eyes of Zeus’ statue seemed bigger and brighter, as if he was watching her all the time. Not in a good way. She had been hiding from the stare in the corner Thalia used to sleep, but now she was so used to it, father didn’t even frighten her anymore. She liked to have something of the sister near her. Made her feel braver. Thalia was so brave. Someday, Emelia would be just as strong as her.

Only a few campers were left. The Ares Cabin had stayed for some reason. Hugo said Apollo’s stole something that belonged to Clarisse, and because of that she refused to fight. Em found it so silly. She climbed down the bed and put on her shoes, tucking into a backpack the small armor and the dagger Dr. Watson had given her for chritmas. Two o’clock meant plan time. She couldn’t just sit waiting for everyone to die without her. Hugo wanted to go as well, so in the lack of Griffin, they would do the dynamic duo thing. Sherlock and Irene worked together sometimes, right?

Emelia walked through the paths, trying not to call too much attention with the backpack. Easier said than done, once she got to the Ares Cabin, she climbed a bit to watch through the window, trying to see, through the curtains, if there was someone there. She had never gotten this close to it. Barbed wire worried her, and people said no good thing could come out of that place. But Hugo was her friend, he wouldn’t let his brothers flay her alive. She knocked on the window’s glass she knew would be next to the boy’s bed. “Sherlock! Sherlock! Are you there?”

I know, Em, I believe you.. but you’re more important than all of us combined. We have to keep you safe.

Why?!

I don’t wanna be safe. I wanna be a hero like you, Thalia.

And you will be! Someday, I swear it, you’ll be an even greater hero than me. But not today, or tomorrow, or the day after that.

That’s not fair!

If you got killed, it wouldn’t be fair.

Yes it would! Mr. D says the best heroes die young and fighting.

WAR STARTS TOMORROW!!!!!!
